Carlos Zambrano and the Cubs held the Mets to one run in a 7-1 victory at home yesterday. Zambrano went seven innings to give up five hits, a run, and two walks, and struck out four. His win, which brings him to 3-1 with a 2.67 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, was helped by some heavy lifting from the Cubs infield,
which combined for four double plays in the game (the only run scored by the Mets came on José Reyes’ DP in the sixth, which scored Endy Chávez). Most of Chicago’s runs came from a two-run home run by Aramis Ramirez that brought home Derrek Lee, and Felix Pie’s three-run shot in the eighth, scoring Ronny Cedeño and Kosuke Fukudome.

John Maine was the starter for New York; he dropped to 1-2 for the season and 0-3 in his career vs. the Cubs.
