Fantasy Baseball Generals

Fantasy Baseball Warfare is a great matter to a nation; it is the ground of death and of life; it is the way of survival and of destruction, and must be examined.–Sun Tzu

Morning Roundup: Hamilton’s Bomb

Last night, Josh Hamilton, Patrick’s “longshot” pick for the AL home run title, got off to a good start with a game-winning blast off J.J. Putz in the top of the ninth. Hamilton went 2 for 5 on the night, including that two-run homer that spoiled Putz’s save opportunity and put Texas up 5-4.

Putz’s blown save continues the relief-pitcher jitters in the first two weeks of the season–especially ninth-inning meltdowns from big-name closers: Huston Street last week in Tokyo, Eric Gagne and Kerry Wood back-and-forth on Monday, and Putz last night. These guys haven’t been much help for fantasy managers in head-to-head leagues this week.
