Fantasy Baseball Generals

Fantasy Baseball Warfare is a great matter to a nation; it is the ground of death and of life; it is the way of survival and of destruction, and must be examined.–Sun Tzu

David Wright hit his third home run in as many games in the Mets’ 6-0 win last night over the Nationals. Wright also doubled twice in the game, driving in runs each time to bring his full performance to three-for-four with five RBI. Jose Reyes had four hits in the game, including a double and a triple, and was caught stealing in his one attempt in the bottom of the first. The starting pitcher for the Mets was Mike Pelfrey, who the team must rely on to hold up the rotation while Pedro Martinez and Orlando Hernánez are out with their injuries. Pelfrey did well enough last night, pitching a career-high seven innings while giving up five hits and two walks, and striking out four.

Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman was hitless over four plate appearances in the game–he’s posted a .211/.242/.368 (BA/OBP/SLG) in the first two weeks of the season–a bit off from the .270+/.340+/.450+, 19+ HR, 85+ R, 90+ RBI performance most projections have him set for.
