Just one week after hitting a grand slam against the Twins, Joe Crede hit another one, officially giving himself a “hot streak” in April, and helping the White Sox to a 11-0 win yesterday over the Tigers. Paul Konerko also hit a grand slam in the game, going two-for-four with an RBI single in the first inning; Crede was one-for-two with a walk on the day. Crede’s batting average is .361 so far this season, with 7 runs, 4 home runs, and 15 RBI. The slugfest was nicely complemented by shutout pitching from Javier Vazquez, who went seven innings to give up five hits and no walks, and strike out nine.
The Tigers batting order scraped together six hits and a walk in the game, while starter Kenny Rogers (whom the Tigers have scored zero runs for in his three starts this year) got roughed up in four innings to bring his record to 0-3–his worst start to a season since 1991.
