Houston starter Roy Oswalt continued a strong rebound from a series of awful starts to the season. Oswalt pitched seven innings and gave up three runs, two walks, and six hits in his victory over the Padres, striking out six along the way. It was the first time Oswalt has won consecutive starts since August, and it was helped by an Astros pummeling of San Diego starter Justin Germano, who could only get one out into the third inning while giving up ten hits, ten runs, and three walks. The Astros offense was led by shortstop Miguel Tejada, who went four-for-five with three RBI and a home run, and who stole his second base of the season. Center fielder Michael Bourn stole two just in the game yesterday, bringing his season total to thirteen.
The Padres could only put together three runs in the 10-3 game, two of them thanks to first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who went one-for-two with a home run and a sacrifice fly.
