Toronto’s Shaun Marcum had a rough start against the Tigers yesterday. Marcum only went two outs into the sixth inning before the Blue Jays bullpen relieved him; he gave up five hits, five runs (one unearned), and four walks in the outing, only striking out two. After three good starts to the season, his performance in this game brought his ERA up to 3.42. The Blue Jays were outpitched by Detroit’s unlikely leading pitcher Armando Galarraga, whose win yesterday brought his W-L, ERA, and WHIP records (2-0, 1.50, 0.67) to a better place than the rest of the starting rotation of Jeremy Bonderman (1-2, 4.37, 1.76), Nate Robertson (0-2, 7.48, 1.62), Kenny Rogers (1-3, 6.33, 1.64), and Justin Verlander (0-3, 7.03, 1.40).
Iván Rodríguez went four-for-five in the game for the Tigers, knocking in one run and raising his batting average to .271.
