Given the size of the post (and the lateness of their reply….), I have included Brian Joura’s and Kevin Orris’ picks, for your viewing “pleasure.”
Kevin Orris
NL East: Braves. What scares me is that what seems like 80% of ESPN is now picking them out of the blue.
NL Central: Brewers. Have a younger, better upside team than the Cubs.
NL West: Rockies. This entire division will rely on health. There are four sold teams.
NL Wild Card: Padres. Solid pitching staff assembled in a solid pitchers park. Hopefully Hoffman won’t fold in September.
AL East: Red Sox. I’d expect 90-95 wins, and the Rays and Yankees to be close behind. The Yankees pitching staff scares me.
AL Central: Indians. Tigers bullpen is terrible.
AL West: Angels. Will be close early on, but once healthy will pull away.
AL Wildcard: Rays. I’d like to think they can do what the Rockies did last year. If they can win the games they are supposed to, they can win 85 games. I am living and dying on this pick.
World Series: Indians over Brewers.
NL MVP: Matt Holliday
AL MVP: Alex Rodriguez. Curtis Granderson is my sleeper if he can come back quickly.
NL Cy Young: Jake Peavy
AL Cy Young: Anyone but Joba.
NL ROY: Koskuke Fukudome. Although he isn’t the best fantasy guy, hes a solid baseball player.
AL ROY: Carlos Gomez. Talk all you want about not ML ready, but will score a lot of runs with Mauer, Cuddyer, and Morneau backing him.
Brian Joura
AL East - Red Sox - I’d like to pick the Blue Jays, love their defense, but I think they are a bat short. Should have signed Bonds.
AL Central - Indians - Just picked up Asdrubal Cabrera in my keeper fantasy league. Looking forward to tracking him in the box scores
AL West - Mariners - Acquisition of Bedard plus injuries to Lackey and Escobar vault them over the Angels.
NL East - Mets - They have the most talent, just a matter of staying relatively healthy.
NL Central - Reds - Nothing disappoints like young pitchers but Reds win tight race thanks to young phenoms Cueto and Volquez.
NL West - Dodgers - Sending Pierre to the bench makes them win the virtual toss-up with Arizona, Colorado and San Diego.
AL MVP - Grady Sizemore
NL MVP - David Wright
AL Cy Young - Erik Bedard
NL Cy Young - Johan Santana
AL Rookie - Daric Barton
NL Rookie - Kosuke Fukudome
It’s hard enough to predict winners of a true race over 162 games - I’m not going to bother with the crap shoot playoffs.
