The winning pitcher for the Angels was Jon Garland. He went six innings to give up eight hits, four runs, and two walks to the Red Sox.

Jon Lester was the starter for the Red Sox, pitching on three days’ rest after Josh Beckett (sore neck and flulike symptoms) and Dasuke Matsuzaka (flulike symptoms) were scratched the previous two days.
