Nick Swisher, Paul Konerko, and Joe Crede each hit solo shots for the White Sox yesterday, but all Chicago’s runs couldn’t match the performance of one Twin, unlikely hero Jason Kubel, who went two-for-four with six RBI, thanks to a sixth-inning grand slam that pushed Minnesota to a 12-5 win. Kubel, usually the DH for the Twins, has been earning some extra playing time in right field while Michael Cuddyer is on the DL with a dislocated finger. Kubel isn’t projected to be all that great for fantasy teams this year (the average projection is around 13HR, 52R, 59RBI), but for now, he and Justin Morneau have the only home runs for Minnesota thus far this season, with two each.
Scott Baker was the starter for the Twins, and struck out seven while pitching through five innings, giving up one walk and five hits, including those three solo home runs.
