Randy Johnson’s second start in the majors this season wasn’t without its troubles. Johnson pitched into the sixth inning, which was deeper than he got in his last game, but still struggled to keep San Diego from scoring. He gave up six hits, six runs, and three walks while striking out six, though he again got a break on earned runs–two of those six were ruled unearned, thanks to shortstop Chris Burke’s fielding error. Despite his 0-1 record on two roughed-up outings, the Big Unit is cruising along with a 3.38 ERA, and apparently without any back troubles.
Padres starter Randy Wolf had another good outing. He struck out seven while pitching in to the seventh inning, and gave up four runs on six hits and a walk. His ERA is at 2.49.
