Nick Swisher started off the slugfest for the White Sox in their 13-2 win over Detroit yesterday with a lead-off homerun on the second pitch he faced. Highlighted around these parts as an underrated player to be drafted, Swisher has five runs on five hits in six games, and a .481 OBP in the first week.

The Tigers have now lost a distressing six games in a row, without a single win to start the season, and no one can seem to figure out the reason why. Resident ace Justin Verlander, who gave up a career-high nine runs in the game, summed up the feelings of his fantasy owners when he said, “This is very frustrating.” The feeling is likely mutual for those who own just about any of the players on the Tigers’ much-vaunted offense, whose stars Magglio Ordóñez, Gary Sheffield, Iván Rodríguez, Miguel Cabrera, and Plácido Polanco have posted first-week averages (respectively) of .280, .200, .174, .111, and .087.
