Despite my early excitement that this might be the year Chris Young learns to take walks, he has been showing some of last year’s form again, striking out three times in each of his last two games. The Diamondbacks have done fine enough without his leadoff bat, though–they swept the Dodgers the past three days, and last night combined for 10 of their own hits in Arizona’s 4-3 win. Third baseman Mark Reynolds, who is on something of an unholy tear with 8 runs, 5 home runs, and a .357 average in the last seven games, batted in a run to raise his season RBI total to a league-leading 13.

Juan Pierre started the game in left field for the Dodgers, and hit two-for-three with an RBI before being replaced in the sixth.

UPDATE: THT’s estimable Derek Carty has more on Mark Reynold’s hot start.
