Fantasy Baseball Generals

Fantasy Baseball Warfare is a great matter to a nation; it is the ground of death and of life; it is the way of survival and of destruction, and must be examined.–Sun Tzu

The Generals’ offense lets them down and we get hammered by Mock Draft Central.

This week the True Gurus predicted, 3-0, that the Generals would defeat Mock Draft Central.  That should have been the first hint that I was in trouble.  This week the strategy actually worked almost perfectly on pitching as we trounced Mock Draft Central in ERA and WHIP.  Alas, the other aspect of the strategy is dominating offensively, and that didn’t happen. My vaunted offense hit .222 for the week as Miguel Cabrera and Magglio Ordonez continue to struggle.

In case you are new to the site, we pursued a somewhat controversial strategy, going the “all reliever” route.  The rationale for the strategy is here, I think you will see that we developed something far more specific than the general strategies typically used in fantasy.

What made it worse was that we had a 3 SB lead going into Sunday, and blew it as Mock Draft Central got 2 steals from Chone Figgins.  We also got zero saves from Mariano Rivera and Takashi Saito. Our two saves for the week came on the same day courtesy of C.J. Wilson.

So now we are still over .500 and finally have an “easy” matchup if there is such a thing.  We face Fantasy Fanatics.  Offensively it appears that we have a big advantage, as their offense is fairly weak with Howard, Uggla, Lowell, Khalil Greene, Crisp, Teahen, Manny and Ortiz.  This offense is power laden, but weak in BA and SB.

On pitching he has only one closer, that being Trevor Hoffman, so if the strategy works I should take the key three categories we targeted with the strategy.

As always take a look at the Fantasy Baseball Search Expert League blog.  Hopefully this week we can vault back into first place in our extremely tough division, as the two other best teams, Roto Authority and Fantasy Baseball Mafia face off.
