Fantasy Baseball Warfare is a great matter to a nation; it is the ground of death and of life; it is the way of survival and of destruction, and must be examined.–Sun Tzu

Weekend Roundup: Grand Slam Walking

Frank Thomas hit his 11th career grand slam yesterday in Toronto’s 7-4 over Boston. It was his second home run of the season, and it brought his season RBI and run totals to 8 and 4, respectively. While many fantasy managers question the Big Hurt’s ability to stay injury-free, those who own him know–and can see from last week’s numbers–that he is well worth owning when he’s active.

In Arizona’s 5-2 win over Colorado yesterday, Mark Reynolds and Stephen Drew each homered for the Diamondbacks. But just as notably, Chris Young took a walk. Last year’s .237 average (and .295 OBP) made many fantasy owners leery of this young outfielder, despite his 32 home runs and 27 stolen bases. That he has taken 7 walks in six games this season is a highly encouraging sign.
