C. C. Sabathia held the A’s to five hits in a 2-0 complete game shutout win for the Indians yesterday.
C. C. walked two and struck out eleven to earn his third win and to continue Cleveland’s shutout streak. Indians pitchers have now thrown 43.1 consecutive scoreless innings, and have notched seven shutouts, five of them in the last eight games. It was C. C.’s best start yet after his terrible April, and it improved his record to 3-5 with a 5.47 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. He’s struck out more in the last four games than he had in his first five starts of the season, and has given up a quarter of the runs.
Both of Cleveland’s runs came from solo shots, one each from Grady Sizemore and Ryan Garko. It was Sizemore’s 7th of the year, and he’s batting .274/.382/.861 with 21 RBI. It was Garko’s 4th, and he’s batting .234/.338/.717 with 17 RBI.
