That didn’t take long. Eric Gagne returned to the closer role after a one-day break, and earned his 10th save of the season yesterday in Milwaukee’s 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Gagne gave up a walk and a hit in the ninth, but ultimately held the Dodgers scoreless in an outing that, following the weekend’s bullpen drama for the Brewers, suggests he’s back in the closer position for some time, and shows he’s back in action before his co-league-leader in blown saves, Jason Isringausen, who pitched well in eigth-inning relief Monday after being pulled from his closer’s duties.

In yesterday’s game, Ryan Braun continued his hot hitting streak for the week, going two-for-four with a triple and a two-RBI double that helped put the Brewers on top for good in the fifth inning. Prince Fielder then drove Braun home with a single. Braun’s now batting a .294/.325/.888 line with 9 home runs and 29 RBI, while Fielder is hitting .250/.349/.761 with 5 home runs and 23 RBI.
