Carlos Gomez hit for the cycle yesterday in Minnesota’s 13-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Gomez worked the cycle in reverse order, starting with a leadoff home run off Chicago starter Mark Buehrle, followed by a triple off Buehrle in the fifth, a double off him in the sixth, and, finally, a single off reliever Ehren Wasserman in the ninth. Gomez, the first Twin since Kirby Puckett 22 years ago to hit for the cycle, improved his season line to .282/.306/.733, with thirteen stolen bases to his name.

Liván Hernández worked the complete game for the Twins, giving up nine hits (four of them in the ninth inning), one walk, and one run (a solo shot from Jermaine Dye in the ninth), while striking out three. He improves to 5-1 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.39 WHIP.
